This is the Kawabe River which has been chosen as the clearest river in Japan for three years in a row. This picture was taken from the windown of a local train that I enjoyed riding last Saturday.
The river is famous for its clear water, but at the same time it is well known for its new dam project despite oppositions by ten NGOs, the majority of farmers, and ayu fishermen. The dam project is now put on temporary hold. Hopefully it is expected to be axed under the new Democratic Party of Japan administration. On that day, a lot of anglers were enjoying fishing in the river.
Wow! Jerry would sure love to be down there with his fishing pole! Very nice photo! I also hope you both enjoyed the sight seeing trip last weekend!
返信削除I hope they don't put a dam across this river also. That would be a shame.
