Higotai Flowers

These are the wild flowers called "Higotai". They grow only on the sunny highlands in central Kyushu, but the number of Higotai is decreasing. They are now designated as one of the endangered plants and are protected by the Environmental Agency. They are now in full bloom in the Aso area near Oita Prefecture and attract a lot of flower lovers and photographers.
