The word "paniolos" in the title means "cowboys" in the Big Island. These picutures were taken in a little town where we stopped for lunch during the tour. Three children wearing western boots were practicing roping steers. When I pointed my camera at them, they responded to me with their beautiful smiles. I liked the girl's pink boots. In the north of the Big Island, is a huge ranch called "Parker Ranch." They may be the children of the paniolos who work there.
These little kids are cute. I remember the very first time I visited Hawaii (about 1976). I was so surprised to find out that there are cowboys and ranches there! The Big Island has a big area of ranches that are beautiful! It's often rainy and cloudy in the higher elevations where the ranches are. It's beautiful country!
