Last Sunday I went to take pictures of an annual traditional farming ritual in a sleepy farming settlement of Ashikita Town in Kumamoto Prefecture. This ritual was originated 98 years ago in order to express the farmers' gratitude to the god of the rice field. The photo shows one of the scenes of the ritual in which a farmer in traditional farming clothes is cultivating the soil in the rice field with the cattle pulling a plow. I sent the photo to a newspaper company. They published it in today's newspaper though they trimmed away its edges.
SO cool! You are in the newspaper again...and well deserved, too! I like how Japan celebrates so daily tasks in such unique ways. This is great!
