These photos were taken at a nearby Shinto shrine early yesterday morning. They are part of the rice planting Shinto ritual which has been discontinued for more than 300 years since the Yedo Peiod. It is conducted to pray for a bountiful harvest of rice. Unfortunatley I could not photograph the highlight scenes of the ritual because I was a little late for arriving there. So these scenes are the photos where farmers were scrambling for the offerings to the gods, which are believed to bring in great harvest for their rice paddies.
