These are two of the photos that I practiced photographing with my telephoto lenses. I photographed the first one with my 500mm super-telephoto lens and the second one with 250mm lens. I would like to photograph birds in flight with my 500mm lens on the tripod, but I have not succeeded in getting a sharp focus on them yet. Practice makes perfect??? 
Those are beautiful shots! When enlarged you can see such wonderful detail. You will be a pro with that new lens in no time! The reflection in the first shot is so fine!
