At A Shinto Shrine

These two photos were taken at a Shinto shrine in our neighborhood. I found a beautifully colored Japanese maple tree near the entrance. I photographed it with two weather-beaten omikuji or fortune slips tied to its little twigs. While protographing, I heard the crunching sound on the fine gravel spread in the precinct. It was from the wooden clogs worn by the priest who was practicing one of his morning rituals.

  1. These two photos are so good...You captured the Shinto priest so naturally, and the red maples leaves are beyond beautiful. What an incredible job you did here!
