Jizo Bodhisattva is a guardian of children, travelers and women, particularly children who died before their parents. It is also known to help those who are working with a life problem or physical affliction. His statues wearing tiny childrens' bibs are a common sight, especially in the countryside. I photographed this jizo in the Hitoyoshi area when my wife and I took a day tour there by local train and sightseeing bus. I should have photographed it from a low camera angle.
The yellow flowers look very nice with the yellow bib.
返信削除I think I saw these on our trip to Japan. Do they sometimes wear red bibs? And, does the color have a significant meaning? I hope you both had a very nice day trip! These are very nice and informative photos!
