Snapshots at the Shrine

Happy New Year! I am back on the Bloggers though I decided to quit posting for the Bloggers last November. Today I visited the Yatsushiro Shrine to pray for happiness and good health for the New Year. Visiting Shinto Shrines is the important event in the New Year. Many people were drawing omikuji or a good random fortunes written on a piece of paper to learn their fortune for the New Year. Some of them were tying omikuji to the strings on or near the tree. While I was there, I took some snapshots of those who were seriously reading their fortunes, after talking to them and getting their permission.

  1. What a wonderful tradition. We just read our daily fortunes in the newspaper...lazy I guess! I am glad you are blogging again! Happy New Year to you and your family & friends!
