Shooting the Rapids

Shooting the rapids in a traditiona wooden boat on the Kumagawa River is very popular since the Kumagawa River is one of the three fastest rivers in Japan. People enjoy not only shooting the rapids in a boat steered by two skillful boatmen fore and aft, but also the seasonal scenery of the narrow river valley from Hitoyoshi City to Kyusendo. I photographed these pictures at Futamata, which is one of the six rapids.

  1. I did this once in Jasper, Alberta, Canada. It scared me to death but so fun at the same time. But...we were in the inflatable "Zodiac" style boats, not wooden like this. Either way, it's a great ride! These are such great action shots. The water is such a beautiful color! Nice!
