Because of concentrated heavy rain from the past few days, there were numerous mudslides and damage to roads and homes in western Japan. Our neighborhood was partially inundated due to the raging water from a nearby irrigation waterway, though we were safe. These two pictures of the swollen Kuma River were taken this morning when the rain stopped. Our city has had little natural disasters so far, but I am worried this time. We are still in the middle of the rainy season.
