Every time I go to Tokyo, I am reminded that one of my former fellow American teacher's first impression of Japan was trains and subways packed with so many passengers like sardines. Every time I arrive at Shinagawa Station from Haneda to change trains for Yamanote Line to visit my son's family, I am always surprised at so many people who suddenly appear out of nowhere. And they walk at a fast pace with their mouths shuts. I sometimes can't move or walk in such a big crowd. They are like aliens for an old countryman like me who was born and brought up only in Kogoshima and Kumamoto Prefecture.
