Japanese Scabiosa

These flowers are called "matsumushi-sou" or "Japanese Scabiosa" in English. I photographed these flowers at one of the observation places from which we can command a marvelous, panoramic view of Mt. Aso on a clear day. Acutually they were taken on the southern outer rim of Mt. Aso, which is about 110 meters high above sea level. This flower is one of the wild flowers which grows on the highlands and it is one of the wild flowers which blooms in early fall. It seems that fall is just around the corner in the Aso area. I like these violet blue flowers.
