Hassaku Festival

Every year about this time, there are many festivals all over Japan. These photos were taken at the Hassaku Festival in Kumamoto prefecture, in which the local people pray for good harvest and safety for the family. On the streets in the Yamato-cho Town, people from nine blocks of the town enjoyed pulling around various figure models on floats, which they made using natural materials such as wood, bark, bamboo, vines and so on. The town became enveloped in a festive mood.
