These are school of lively ayu or sweetfish swimming up a splash dam in The Kuma River, Yatsushiro City. Ayu or sweetfish are called "Queen of River". They migrate like salmon. They are baby ayu which are now about 10cm long. They started to fresh-run in mid-March. I photographed them with my super-telephoto lens, but it was not easy to capture the moment of their jump while they dash and jump at the splash dam. I took about 300 pictures of them, but only 10 or so came out well.
